Beyond Coronavirus (COVID-19): Monkeypox updates – Medical Test Systems, Inc. (MEDTEST)

Thermo Fisher Scientific has developed a PCR-based test that can positively detect monkeypox specimens. Those specimens are then sent to a national lab based in Raleigh for validation.

There are currently fewer than 100 laboratories across the country capable of handling monkeypox specimens before they are sent to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
