Carrier Screening

CarrierMax Kits

The CarrierMax FMR1 Reagent Kit is used to detect the number of CGG repeats in the Fragile X Mental Retardation (FMR1) gene. This kit uses a dual PCR system combining full length and triplet primed PCR amplification (TP-PCR), followed by fragment analysis on the Applied Biosystems 3500/3500xL Genetic Analyzer or SeqStudio Genetic Analyzer, to accurately determine up to 200 CGG repeats and detect alleles that are >200 CGG repeats.

The CarrierMax SMN1/SMN2 Reagent Kit uses multiplex PCR amplification of genomic DNA and capillary electrophoresis to detect deletions in exon 7 of the Survival of Motor Neuron 1 (SMN1) gene that result in truncated SMN protein. In addition, the kit detects two variants associated with the silent carrier (2+0) haplotype. The results are processed with GeneMapper Software in conjunction with included CarrierMAX Software to consolidate data and simplify carrier classifications in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) carrier screening research.

Microsatellite Instability

TrueMark MSI Assay

The Applied Biosystems TrueMark MSI Assay is a low-input, single-amplification solution for the rapid identification of microsatellite instability (MSI) in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples from multiple tumor tissue types for research applications. The TrueMark MSI Assay leverages an expanded 6-dye set to incorporate additional markers and does not require the use of a tumor-normal match, thereby cutting in half the number of wells required for each sample, as well as reducing the sample handling burden. The assay is compatible with the Applied Biosystems SeqStudio and 3500 Series genetic analyzers.

MSI analysis software

The associated TrueMark MSI Analysis Software (included at no additional charge) is designed specifically for the TrueMark MSI Assay to enable automated calling of markers and samples, offering greater ease of analysis by reducing the manual QC, analysis, and review required to determine sample status. The automated calling functions without the use of a tumor-normal match, but it is also compatible with tumor-normal pairs.

SARS-CoV-2 Detection

TaqPath COVID-19 CE-IVD RT-PCR Kit

TaqPath™ COVID‑19 CE‑IVD RT‑PCR Kit contains the reagents and controls for a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test intended for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2 in upper respiratory specimens (such as nasopharyngeal, oropharyngeal, nasal, and mid‑turbinate swabs, and nasopharyngeal aspirate) and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens from individuals suspected of COVID-19.

Results are for the identification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA. The SARS-CoV-2 RNA is generally detectable in upper respiratory and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens during the acute phase of infection. Positive results are indicative of the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA; clinical correlation with patient history and other diagnostic information is necessary to determine patient infection status. Positive results do not rule out bacterial infection or co-infection with other viruses. The agent detected may not be the definite cause of disease. Laboratories may be required to report all positive results to the appropriate Competent Health Authorities.

Negative results do not preclude SARS-CoV-2 infection and should not be used as the sole basis for patient management decisions. Negative results must be combined with clinical observations, patient history, and epidemiological information.

Testing with the TaqPath™ COVID‑19 CE‑IVD RT‑PCR Kit is intended for use by qualified and trained clinical laboratory personnel specifically instructed and trained in the techniques of real-time PCR and in vitro diagnostic procedures.
